1Heart Maze Cafe
It isn’t enough for cafes to serve superb coffee and meals nowadays. As more of us are looking to fill our ‘grams with cool shots, a lot of cafes have been putting extra thought into their premises’ aesthetic – take 1Heart Maze Cafe, for example.
This industrial-style cafe in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, has a full-blown maze in the shape of a heart attached to their building. The maze’s dreamy pink walls, and various photo spots including one with pink converging steps, look similar to that one iconic set in Squid Game.

1Heart Maze Cafe’s heart-shaped maze is a stunning oasis of pink right outside its doors – it’s even said to be the largest maze in Sabah.Â

Though the bubblegum pink walls of the maze bring to mind the staircases in Squid Game, this maze exudes a cheerful vibe and serves as a dreamy backdrop for photos.

Wandering through the maze is made more enjoyable with different photo spots located at every turn. There are quirky quotes, including one that says ‘With love and patience, nothing is impossible’, on the fairy-floss pink walls. Various props for you to pose with, such as a corner with mirrors and an all-pink phone booth, are other photo spots waiting to be discovered within the maze.Â

Patrons will have to pay an entrance fee (RM40/adult) to explore the vast maze, which is inclusive of a meal and drink from the cafe. Meals and drinks for kids can be purchased a la-carte too, with discounted entrance fees (RM5/kid) for children aged 5 to 11 years old.
Those aged 4 and below will get to enter the maze for free.

Here, you’ll be treated to panoramic views of the heart-shaped maze with all its twists and turns – it’s also a great place to strike your best pose with the entire maze as your backdrop.
