Fellas Koff

Penang is certainly not at a loss for aesthetic cafes. While we’re tempted to revisit our favourite spots every weekend, the ever-evolving cafe scene in the state includes places with specific features that make for interesting dining experiences. Enter Fellas Koff in George Town, Penang. Here, you can dine on fusion meals and coffee drinks inside a retro double-decker bus that has been converted into a charming dining area.

Fellas Koff may look like another neighbourhood cafe on the block that makes for a fuss-free hangout spot with your friends on the weekends. Inside, the dining area is minimally decorated with simple furnishings, comprising wooden tables, stools, and just a couple of wall decorations.

But head further inside to the back of the cafe for a surprise. Parked behind the cafe is a double-decker Transnational bus from which all the seats are removed and replaced with dining tables and chairs, so patrons can dine right in the bus.

If you’re looking for a unique dining experience beyond the four walls of a usual cafe space, this revamped bus at Fellas Koff will be a treat. Besides the addition of tables and chairs, carpeted floors and atmospheric lighting add to the cosy vibes inside the bus.

Fellas Koff isn’t just a feast for the eyes. They have a vast variety of eats on their menu, including local cuisine and Western mains to various diners’ taste buds.

A great brunch option is their Spanish Serranito (RM20), a classic Spanish baguette sandwich stuffed with cured turkey ham, chicken, or beef of your choice, and sides of fresh greens and fries. Their pastas come with a unique twist too, such as the Thai Pasta (RM18) that packs a punch with a Thai chilli base. For a more indulgent and flavourful pasta dish, the Chicken Buffalo Pasta (RM18) is worth a try.

There’s the Gyudon Rice Bowl (RM17) that’s loaded with shoyu beef and topped with a wobbly onsen egg, and Fish From Bangkok Rice Bowl (RM17) for those who fancy a whole lot of heat and spice. Or have a taste of Korea with the Oppa Kepci Rice Bowl (RM17), comprising fluffy rice topped with Korean spicy fried chicken and kimchi.
