Ichiran Ramen Pop-up To Open In KL On 3rd March 2023

Back in 2020, Malaysians were more than excited to learn that the popular Japanese ramen chain – Ichiran Ramen – would be opening a pop-up store in Kuala Lumpur for the first time ever. Fast forward to three years later, and the OG Japanese icon is set to open another pop-up at Isetan in Kuala Lumpur, so we can slurp on tonkotsu ramen broth again.

Here’s what we know about the latest pop-up, which is set to open from 3rd-15th March 2023:

The return of Ichiran Ramen to Malaysia was announced by Isetan on their official Instagram page, on 23rd February. According to the post, the pop-up store can soon be found on the Lower Ground Floor of Lot 10 shopping centre, at The Market in Isetan The Japan Store.

Ichiran Ramen’s first pop-up store was located at Isetan KLCC and held between 13th-22nd March. Needless to say, it attracted snaking lines. The upcoming pop-up will likely see the same long queues of eager Malaysians looking to enjoy a ramen bowl from the OG Japanese icon.

The pop-up will serve the brand’s famous flavourful tonkotsu broth with “semi-fresh noodles”, and also feature original merchandise. A Tonkotsu-Free Ramen was priced RM22/bowl back in 2020, and came with toppings such as fresh scallions, a variety of mushrooms, and pinch of signature chilli powder.

The previous pop-up dished up pork-free Tonkotsu-free ramen bowls. Isetan’s announcement includes a note that the latest pop-up will be non-halal.

Also making a return are “Ramen Focus Booths”, just like the ones in Japan. These are essentially cosy booths, where diners can slurp up noodles at semi-private dining tables separated by partitions – for minimal distraction and maximum personal space.

Planning a trip to Japan just to gorge on silky-smooth strands of noodles may not be on the cards for you right now. So, consider dropping by Ichiran Ramen’s pop-up store in March 2023, which will be in the city for 13 days only.
