SplashMania at Gamuda Cove

We’re always looking for ways to beat the heat in ever-sunny Malaysia. Besides being a fun place to awaken our inner child, a water theme park is the perfect place to have a splashing good time cooling off with friends and family too.

Joining the list of water theme parks that let us spend carefree days under the sun in Malaysia is SplashMania, a new water park less than an hour’s drive from Kuala Lumpur that features 39 water rides and attractions. We recently visited the water park, which opened its doors on 6th February 2023, to bring you this guide of things to look out for there.

24 thrilling water slides and 15 attractions

SplashMania at Gamuda Cove - pirate ship

SplashMania at Gamuda Cove in Dengkil will be hard to miss even from afar. This is all thanks to the Amazonia, a giant pirate ship that looks like something straight out of the Pirates of the Caribbean, which takes centre stage at the water park. Not all for show, you can experience a bird’s eye view of the park from the ship, with an adrenaline-inducing water slide also attached to it. But more on this water slide later in this guide.

Remember to bring a fully charged phone, because you might just end up taking loads of pictures like we did on the ship.

Spanning an expansive 18 acres, the water park features a total of 24 thrilling water slides at varying heights and 15 attractions that’ll keep both adults and kids entertained for a full day. There’s even an open-air food centre where you can dine on pizzas and lasagnas to fuel you up for your next ride.

You can also purchase items such as waterproof phone covers (RM30/each) and anti-slip shoes (RM29) at a retail shop, for a fun and safe day well spent at SplashMania.

Shaka Waka, a 78-metre long water slide

Splashmania - Shaka Waka

During our visit, we got to hop on several thrilling water slides. But Shaka Waka, comprising two 78-metre long water slides with programmable LED light effects and music, was a highlight for us.

This slide took us on an exciting and twisty ride, before launching us straight into a pool. There were helpful lifeguards to greet us and ensure we made our way safely down the slide.

Visitors can opt for a single-person float or a two-person float, with the latter recommended for those with little ones.

Maniac Racers, a multi-flume slide

A water slide to take on alongside friends is Maniac Racers, a multi-flume slide that requires the use of a sliding mat. There’s even a scoreboard awaiting thrillseekers at the end of the ride, which shows the time and position of each racer.

Sumaumeira Drop, a water slide angled at 75 degrees

SplashMania at Gamuda Cove - slide

Not for the faint of heart, the Sumaumeira Drop is a thrilling water ride that is angled at 75 degrees for maximum drop and splash value. It’s also said to be the tallest water ride drop in Malaysia. The slide will make you feel like you’re on top of the world for a good 5 seconds as you’ll have to climb the three-storey Amazonia ship, before descending into a complete free fall with water splashing through your hair.

This ride is perfect for adrenaline lovers, and might just have you screaming your lungs out from the 10/10 thrill factor it offers.

Ravage River, a 400-metre long river ride

SplashMania - RIVER

A more leisurely ride at SplashMania is Ravage River, a 400-metre long river ride that lets you float to your own pace on a swim tube and enjoy the surrounding greenery. This ride is perfect for kiddos, and anyone who wants to just chill in the cool waters sans the slides.

Other more lowkey, yet just as fun, areas you can check out with the whole fam at SplashMania is a manmade “beach” to wade in a low tides, as well as Treasure Tower. This massive structure is complete with splash buckets that’ll douse you with water, as you’re climbing up the stairs to reach the multiple slides part of the tower.
