New shopping malls in Klang Valley
You’ll know where to find most Malaysians on the weekends: congregating at a shopping mall.
While it feels like there are already countless malls in Klang Valley, we’ll always welcome a new spot to jalan-jalan at if it means more food and retail therapy with the same air-con treatment.
For your next weekend lepak session munching on food and splurging on new finds, take yourself to these new, upcoming, and recently renovated malls in Klang Valley.

1. 118 Mall
Artisan district, observation deck & food hall
The sprawling 118 Mall is set to open in November 2026 instead of the expected August, but this delay in opening hasn’t dulled any interest in it. Attached to Malaysia’s tallest building, the mall features seven floors of shopping space, with over 300 retail and F&B stores.

Some brands attached to the mall include Honolu Ramen, Village Grocer, BookXcess, and SOGO. But it’s not all just shopping and eating here.

There’s the Malaysian Artisan District, an area in the mall spotlighting local F&B and crafts; The Atmosphere, an event space crowned with a jaw-dropping glass dome; Makanizm Food Hall with local and international food options; and The View at 118, an observation deck dubbed the highest observation deck in Southeast Asia.
The Merdeka Textile Museum, a new museum on local textiles, will open next to the mall too.

2. Coalfields Retail Park
New lakeside mall in North Klang Valley

Coalfields Retail Park will be the newest haunt for residents in Sungai Buloh, Kuala Selangor, Puncak Alam, and Rawang.
The new mall, located inside the Bandar Seri Coalfields township, has all the makings of a reliable neighbourhood mall. It covers 21 acres of ground, with a hybrid indoor-outdoor mall concept comprising 135 retail lots. A 7-acre lake and park also envelop the development.
Families can look forward to spending weekends at Village Grocer, Harborland, Blue Ice Skating Rink, Pickle Park, and more here. Other go-to shops that are open at the mall include Decathlon, Harvey Norman, McDonald’s, Hock Kee Kopitiam, and Baskin Robbins.

3. The Capitol
Directly connected to the LRT Shah Alam line

1 Utama City Group has another mall up their sleeves for Bandar Utama residents and workers: The Capitol, which is located about 5 minutes from 1 Utama Shopping Centre and 12 minutes from Subang Airport.
As traffic can get backed up in the Bandar Utama area, this new mall is connected to the BU11 LRT Station on the new LRT Shah Alam line via a link bridge, so you can ditch your vehicle to jalan-jalan here.

The Capitol is made up of two 18-storey office towers perched on the 14-level The Podium – it’s dubbed the tallest building in Petaling Jaya, with a whopping total of 32 floors. Six floors of The Podium will cover F&B and lifestyle spots, with a focus on wellness spaces as the mall plans to integrate fitness and medical facilities into its offerings.
Some notable brands that’ll open in the mall include chain supermarket QRA, coworking space Common Ground, and F&B spots such as Fowlboys, Inside Scoop, Bean Brothers, Dodo Korea, and Bricks & Butter.

4. AEON Mall KL Midtown

Just a stone’s throw from Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) and Hyatt Regency Kuala Lumpur, the upcoming AEON Mall KL Midtown is shaping up to be a snazzy shopping mall part of KL Metropolis, a 75-acre mixed-use development in KL Midtown.

As AEON’s 28th mall in Malaysia, the sprawling 500,000sqft mall covers retail, dining, and lifestyle shops to service the surrounding residences and offices. And of course, there will be an AEON supermarket here, as well as a 1.5-acre rooftop garden, The Linear Park, with walkways, lush greenery, and water features.
A link bridge to MITEC is also planned for the mall.

The mall recently revealed some of its key tenants – Oriental Kopi, Sushiro, and Verona Hills Bakery & Patisserie – with more to be announced closer to its expected opening date.

5. IPC Shopping Centre
New gourmet dining hall

The family-friendly IPC Shopping Centre brings more food options to its shoppers in December. Called IPC Gourmet Hall, this new nature-inspired dining destination on the established PJ mall’s Ground Level opens with 39 food outlets covering familiar brands and concept dining experiences.

Some tenants that have been announced from its over-30 lineup are Ole-Ole Bali, Paradise Dynasty, Chameleon Restaurant, Bantianyao Grilled Fish, Seven Seas, BaD Scones, Churn Ice Cream, Halla Holla, Furiku, and Anytime Acai.

6. The Mines Shopping Mall

The Mines Shopping Mall gets a glow-up in 2026.
Best known as the mall in Klang Valley with an indoor Venetian-inspired canal and cruise, The Mines announced in 2025 that it would undergo a revamp in 2026. What comes along with it are new openings, including the now-open flagship Game On Theme Park that’s one of the largest indoor theme parks in Selangor with over 30 attractions.

Joining the lineup are Jaya Grocer, which replaces Lotus’s, and a farm-themed entertainment centre Kin+Zo Land, as well as a TGV Cinemas, Minexport, and Funscape by Cobay. Food spots Chagee, Auntea Jenny, Wallace, Nando’s, and DubuYo also open at the mall to bring shoppers more meal options while they explore the mall’s entertainment spots.
In December 2026, Nation Bowl will open a 27-lane tournament-standard bowling centre in the mall, with an in-house cafe. The mall’s Level 1 West Court gets a makeover too, with more food spots planned for it.

7. Steppes Mont Kiara
A food hub in Mont Kiara
There’s not much retail therapy at the recently opened Steppes Mont Kiara, but you won’t hear many complaints from those who regularly haunt this spot. This lifestyle mall feels more like a street mall for food, with plenty of cafe outlets with aesthetically pleasing spaces.

More than 10 food spots are tucked away here, including outlets from well-known cafes One Half, Bask, and Hillside DouDou. For heartier dishes beyond the coffees and cakes, there’s the pork-free Fujin Ramen and fancy Steka Grill House for meat-forward meals.

8. Destina Putrajaya
Transit mall with go-to F&B spots
If you’re a commuter who transits regularly through Putrajaya Sentral, you’re in luck.
Destina is another spot with just a handful of retail shopping options. The new shopping mall in Putrajaya is more like a transit mall, linking a whole bunch of F&B spots to Putrajaya Sentral station, which it is directly connected to.
All the go-to drink spots are here to curb your coffee and iced-cold drink cravings, before or after work hours. There’s Luckin Coffee, Kenangan Coffee, Juice Works, and ZUS Coffee. If you need to squeeze in a grocery run, head to the Giant supermarket here that has a food hall here.

9. Ombak KLCC
A gallery & a rooftop space with KL skyline views
The Petronas Twin Towers are known for their eye-catching facades. But another unique structure has emerged alongside the KL landmark, stealing some of the attention: Ombak KLCC, a new mall with a wave-like exterior that’s now open to the public.
The 6-storey mall features 420,000sqft of space and 120 retail lots, with direct connectivity to the MRT Putrajaya line. Find lifestyle and F&B outlets, a rooftop park with KL skyline views, and even a marketplace at the new mall, along with Galeri Petronas, offering artsy experiences for visitors looking to go beyond shopping and eating.

10. KLGCC Mall

KLGCC Mall in Bukit Kiara has everything that you need for a weekend visit with your family: dine-out options, grocery runs, and family-friendly activities.

The mall features over 80 retail shops, like Jaya Grocer, ACE Hardware, and Asia Ballet Academy, as well as a serene Amphitheatre overlooking the golf club that regularly hosts lifestyle and wellness events.
Thailand’s HarborLand, a chain of indoor kids’ playlands, opened its first branch in the country here too.

As for food, go beyond the chains to dine out at branches of popular eateries like Mokky’s Pizza & Coffee, Huckleberry, EM’s Soft Cookies, Super Blonde by Serai, and NakNak. Korea’s MODU also has a location here, with a dining area that overlooks lush greenery.

11. Sunway Square Mall
A 24-hour bookstore

Sure, Sunway Pyramid and Sunway GEO Avenue are walkable from Sunway Square Mall, which opened in December 2025. But the new shopping mall in the Bandar Sunway township offers a more laidback shopping and dining experience for anyone looking to get away from the constant crowds and office hustle at the other two malls.
Sunway Square Mall is also connected to a serene lake, with walkable pathways along it.
Sunway Square Mall is also home to the 24-hour The Sunway Library by BookXcess, which now also has a small corner for book collections from London’s well-known Goldsboro Books.
Other retail spots among the mall, which spans 4 floors with over 150 shops, include BUMP Bouldering, TGV Cinemas, Village Grocer, and lifestyle brand KKV.

12. Hextar World

The mall at PJ’s Empire City Damansara, established 14 years ago, finally opened in December 2025. Officially called Hextar World at Empire City, the sprawling mall that sits on a massive 23-acre parcel has 600 outlets for shopping, entertainment, and dining.
