Policemen give elderly couple a lift home
While holding out a helping hand is part of the job for all policemen, their kind deeds rarely make headlines. No matter how small the gesture may be, it does take a sincere heart to go above and beyond the call of duty.
A pair of police officers in Johor shows just this when they graciously offered to give an elderly couple a lift, after they were spotted struggling to make the journey home on their motorcycle due to the unrelenting heat.
Elderly couple made an emergency stop due to the heat
The story was first shared by Segamat Police District on their Facebook page on 11th May 2023, and later picked up by the Chinese news portal, Sin Chew Daily, where it went viral with over 40,000 reactions.

According to the Facebook post, the incident happened around 3:50pm while two policemen, Icha and Johan, were on patrol duty in Segamat. An elderly couple was riding home on their motorcycle, when they decided to take refuge under the shade of the trees by the side of the road in Jalan Bukit Mambai in Labis.
They were unable to complete their journey home in Kampung Tenang due to the heat.
While they were resting, the police officers, who happened to be patrolling the area, spotted the couple who seemed to be stranded. Upon approaching the elderly duo, they learned that the heat was too unbearable for the couple so they had to make an emergency stop and cool down for a bit or they might pass out.

Realising the predicament of the elderly couple, the police officers quickly offered to send them home in their police car, which would be a more favourable option than continuing their journey on the motorcycle.

Grateful for the help, the elderly couple graciously accepted the offer and were driven home by Johan, while Icha willingly rode their motorcycle home for them.

Since its posting, netizens have taken the time to leave sweet comments about the efforts of the police officers, praising their work ethics and thanking them for looking out for the citizens of the nation.
Kind deeds of our local policemen
The hotter than usual weather in Malaysia in recent days hasn’t been easy for us. So we applaud these police officers who took the time while on duty to escort the elderly couple home, and even ride their motorcycle home for them so they didn’t need to return for it.
It’s refreshing to see our local policemen supporting our local communities, and setting an example for all to look out for our vulnerable members of our society.
