Shake Shack opens first Malaysia outlet

We Malaysians love a good burger. So it comes as no surprise that many of us were beyond thrilled to hear that Shake Shack from New York City would be opening their first-ever outlet in Malaysia at The Exchange TRX.

Now, the wait is finally over. The burger joint officially opens its doors to curious diners on 10th April 2024 at 7pm, with a menu of all their classic burgers and also Malaysian-special milkshakes.

We gave the outlet a visit to bring you all you need to know about it – prices for the burgers included.

For the uninitiated, Shake Shack started as a humble hot dog stand in the Big Apple. It now has over 100 outlets worldwide, with its first Southeast Asia branch opening at Jewel Changi Airport in 2019.

Thanks to a partnership between Shake Shack and SPC Group, Malaysians don’t have to suffer from #fomo – the burger joint has opened its first outlet in Malaysia at The Exchange TRX in KL.

This comes after the roller coaster of anticipation around the Malaysia store’s opening. The New York joint first shared on 6th January 2022 that it’ll be launching its debut Malaysian outlet that same year, which was followed by several other teasers.

The first lucky guest in line is set to receive Shake Shack merchandise. There’ll also be Malaysia-exclusive tote bags for diners to redeem.

There’s also the meat-free ‘Shroom Burger (RM27), with a crisp-fried portobello mushroom to replace the usual meat patty, and the Chicken Shack (RM22) that has a juicy chicken breast or thigh as a protein to go with a signature buttermilk herb mayo.

In addition to burgers, Shake Shack serves flat-top hot dogs too. There are three options on the menu, depending on your choice of toppings. Opt for the classic beef sausage (RM15), or have it topped with additional cheese sauce (RM19) or streaky beef (RM23).
