NCT’s Ten to visit Penang on 11th March
Fans of Korean music in Malaysia recently experienced a short-lived elation when former member of K-pop group Super Junior, Henry Lau, and Korean singer, Paul Kim, uploaded photos of themselves in George Town, Penang on Instagram. As most celebrities typically visit our capital city, it’s safe to say that Penang kias were especially excited to see the stars exploring the state.
This won’t be the last of K-pop stars setting foot on the island either – Ten Lee of K-pop boyband NCT and Chinese idol group WayV will be making a special appearance at Gurney Plaza Mall in Penang. He’ll be attending a Yves Saint Laurent pop-up event on 11th March 2023 – here’s what we know about it.

It isn’t often that Penangites get to experience the thrill of seeing their favourite celebrity in person. But fans of NCT and WayV are in luck. Ten Lee – Thai singer and lead dancer of NCT and its Chinese subunit WayV – posted a story on his Instagram to inform fans of his special appearance at Gurney Plaza Penang this Saturday.

Ten is set to make a special appearance at the launch of YSL Beauty’s LIBRE first-ever pop-up, which is set to take place in the Centre Atrium of Gurney Plaza. According to a Facebook post from YSL Beauty Malaysia, he’s expected to make an appearance from 2pm onwards, and fans will have the opportunity to meet him in person.
From 10th March onwards, between 10am and 10pm, the first 100 individuals who purchase a minimum of RM350 at YSL Beauty’s LIBRE pop-up event at Gurney Plaza will be given a YSL Beauty ribbon tag. This entitles them to access a VIP box at the pop-up event launch.
Do note that online purchases are not counted towards this.
Rest assured, fans can likely catch a glimpse of the K-pop idol even without a tag, as the Centre Atrium is an open space viewable from above.

An accomplished artist & fashion icon

For the uninitiated, Chittaphon Leechaiyapornkul – who goes by his stage name Ten – is an artist based in South Korea and China. But he was born and bred in Thailand. Multilingual and multitalented, the 27 year old has had numerous debuts. He’s part of the 23-member mega-group NCT and supergroup SuperM under SM Entertainment in Korea, as well as a member of Chinese subunit of NCT, WayV.

His musical releases aren’t limited to the groups he is a part of either. Since 2017, Ten has been releasing a slew of successful solo songs including Dream In A Dream, New Heroes and Paint Me Naked, as well as his latest sensual R&B track, Birthday.

Known as one of the most phenomenal dancers in the industry, Ten was also a judge on a Chinese dance competition show called Street Dance of China, and a mentor for aspiring dancers on another famed dance show in China, Great Dance Crew.

Besides being an accomplished artist, Ten has been turning heads in the fashion scene globally too – in particular, his recent appearance at Yves Saint Laurent’s Men’s Fall-Winter 23 fashion show in Paris. Donning a sultry all-black attire, the star made headlines and had fans talking about his impressive entrance into the world of high fashion.
