Elderly brothers reunite after months of separation
The Covid-19 pandemic has certainly caused much chaos in our lives and affected our daily activities in so many ways, one of them being the ability to travel freely. Most Malaysians have not been visiting their family members and friends for a very long time due to repeated lockdowns that were imposed in order to curb the spread of the disease.
Fortunately, with official announcements from the government earlier this week, people were allowed to cross state borders once again. As the much-anticipated interstate travel became a reality, many Malaysians were and are now able to balik kampung. And because of that, we saw this gem of a viral video of two elderly brothers who reunited after months of separation.

On 11th October 2021, Tiktoker @tinaozair posted a 48-second video capturing the moment her father met his elder brother after not being able to see each other for a long time. The strong emotions the video elicited made it catch the attention thousands of people online.
In the viral video, Tina Ozair’s dad could be seen walking into a house and receiving an emotional hug and interacting with his brother. Tina wrote in her captions that her dad and his brother had not met each other for a long time presumably because of the repeated Movement Control Orders that made it difficult for people to cross state borders.
The caption also mentioned that the two brothers stay in different states, one in Raub, Pahang, and the other in Alor Setar, Kedah.
Both of them could be seen with tears of joy, hugging and interacting, when they finally saw each other after a long time.
Netizens touched by the reunion video as interstate travels are allowed
The emotional video has since gathered a lot of attention from Malaysians who are returning to their hometowns in different states this week. At the time of writing, the viral video has racked up over 360,000 views, more than 40,000 likes and 2,000 shares.
Netizens who commented on their video shared how the incident reflects their emotions as they too miss their family members.

Meanwhile, netizen LINDA Rienda who also felt sad, wrote that older people with siblings often long for their family’s company, especially if they stay apart from each other.
Elderly brothers reunite after months of separation
It is indeed bittersweet to see these two siblings reunite after months of separation due to travel restrictions. We believe a lot of Malaysians currently share these emotions as they finally get to cross state borders to meet up with family and friends. While we’re at it, let’s remember to all follow health SOPs to ensure that our journey home is safe for everyone.
