Malaysian man reunites with family after 2 years

Since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, Malaysians had to go through a series of devastating lockdowns that had a lasting impact on our lives. This includes being unable to meet our loved ones who live abroad for nearly two years, as our country’s borders remained closed to overseas visitors. But this all changed recently.

With our country’s international borders reopening on 1st April 2022, many Malaysians are having heartwarming reunions with their families. Such was the case with this Malaysian man returning home from Singapore, who had been away for two years and was met with big hugs and happy tears from his parents on his return.

A long-overdue reunion

On 29th March 2022, TikTok user @riyaan65 uploaded a heartwarming video of how he met his parents for the first time after two years due to the pandemic. Riyaan, who had travelled from Singapore, was filmed surprising his parents in the video after arriving home on a motorbike.

He likened the moment of returning home to being ‘back to heaven after 2 years’.

As he got off the vehicle, his father could already be seen waiting at the front door of their house to welcome him back. Riyaan proceeded to hug him before looking for his mum.

It appears that Riyaan was excited to surprise his mum as he excitedly went from one door to another in the house to look for her. Their reactions at seeing each other again shows just how difficult it has been for separated family members, as she was left speechless and burst into tears upon seeing him.

Likewise, he was smiling from ear to ear while they shared a loving embrace.

Nonetheless, mums can’t help but lovingly nag at their kids no matter how old they are.

His mum, likewise, was concerned for his safety as he had travelled on his motorbike from Singapore to Malaysia. Despite her shock and emotional state from seeing her son after two years, she could be heard scolding him in Tamil for choosing to ride a motorbike to return home after their hug.
